Reminds me of the story my father related re atonal music. He did tell me who originally did this little sketch thingie, but I forgets.

Conductor and Leader of the Orchestra discussing atonal music

Conductor: first you must get the forking tune
Leader: don't you mean the tuning fork
Conductor: no, I mean the forking tune
Leader: and why do we need that?
Conductor: because in atonal music there is no forking tune

(I extemporise due to a non-photographic memory)
