I see that there is a message below remarking on democracy and tyranny. I was listening to a BBC history tape (‘This Sceptred Isle’) today, and was amazed to hear the narrator describe how, during the infancy of Henry III, a justiciar, Peter des Roches, caused havoc in 1232 by overthrowing the Protector, Hubert de Burgh, and with the aid of mercenary fighters, went on to cause mayhem and a great deal of trouble for some years.

No change there then?
