Ed's enterprise and posting of his observations and things that he finds peculiar, are a service to us all. All of us can learn or at least hear some different views from the answers to a carefully posed question.
I am familiar with British life, customs and most of the other aspects that puzzle some others, but the discussion of whether Beckfoot was electrified was very interesting to me. At the very least those of us who do know the answer can get a fleeting sense of being knowledgeable just because we know something that others haven't learned yet and then have the pleasure of imparting that knowledge, possibly someone might mistake us for being learned!!
