3. "Baulk" mens basically big lump of timber. A lump big enough to make the sound "baulk" when you drop it...

8. Mushrooms. With plenty of butter. On buttered toast. Mmmmmmmmm!

13. Ah - water divining. It works - boy does it work! I've only had a go once, on a visit to the Peak District where they were at an exhibition or local crafts etc. giving people a go, but using two bent metal rods rather than a hazel twig.

I had a go, not really expecting much, and two my astonishment as I walked across the room where a water pipe was hidden below the floor the two rods crossed. I walked on and they separted. Walked back, and they crossed again at the same point. I then tried to stop them crossing by grippng the rods hard - no good. They just whipped across all the harder, each striking the thumb of the opposite hand.

It is an amazing experience... and I have no idea how it work. I think the theory has something to go with electro-magnetic fields, and some people are more sensitive to these things than others.

Could be - I don't know, though I know that - speaking about magnetism - I gave up wearing a watch 20 years ago because I kept on stoppig them (even anti-magnetic ones). Even digital ones didn't work properly after a while. So there may be something in it.

Now - water divining.... wouldn't that be a fun activity at a future Junior TARS event!
