A full length word for word version of S&A, as indicated by Dave, was produced by ISIS Audio Books of Oxford in 1995. It was read by Sheila Mitchell, and although it was quite well done, discriminating members would notice that it lacks the 'Gabriel touch'. It was VERY expensive. The recording lasts for eleven and a half hours and was primarily produced for the use of libraries to entertain children.
Perhaps a note here: this is a recording 'as written', which suggests that Gabriels recording at 6 hours has got approximately half the story missing. This, I am led to understand, is not the case at all. Gabriel has omitted some minor items, but by carefully adjusting the text, much more of the story is on his tapes than the time would suggest. He is an expert at putting recordings together, as the large number of people who buy his tapes will testify.
