And here's a nice little story concerning the man-in-the-middle, Vyvan Holland, OW's son. What he had to say, in a letter to Compton Mackenzie in 1959, will touch the hearts of politicophobes everywhere --

"I note, from my morning paper today, that you have called the Tories 'a lot of boneheads.' Why pick on the Tories particularly? Surely, all politicians are boneheads? Otherwise they would not be politicians. I am a Liberal myself---that is to say, I have no particluar political creed except that most politicians are scoundrels, and the majority of them are only out for what they can get for themselves and don't really care one hoot in Hell for the countries of which they are, were, or would like to be Dictators."

The Wildes had a way with words, didn't they?
