Yes, well maybe Ross started Oscar on his “gay” life. Robbie Ross is remembered now for his work on Oscar’s estate after his death for his sons Cyril & Vyvyan.

I have not read the recent bio. of “Bosie” Douglas. But Douglas pushed Oscar into suing his father (Queensbury) for libel, which led to Oscar’s own trial. Oscar’s “true friends” at the cafe ie Shaw and ..... advised him against suing. Douglas was selfcentered; he didn’t consider the effect on Oscar and didn’t understand that he couldn’t bring his argument with his father into the libel trial.

Douglas (and his sinister accomplices Crossland? etc) sued Ransome to get money, but of course Oscar’s true attitude to Douglas in the embargoed De Profundis came out.
