Our children have enjoyed watching the Swallows and Amazons film so much that they were determined to get a boat, and learn to sail. We got a boat and they have been sailing on Lake Padarn in North Wales, and even out to sea. But they very much liked 'Titty' in the film and wanted to contact her (i.e. Sophie Neville the actress). It was a long job, searching the net and asking questions within the BBC. However, we found a strange reference to a wildlife artist Sophie Neville who was invited to supper in South Africa, whose parents kept otters near to Stroud. We asked friends in that area who this might be and this way we discovered Sophies' parents. They told us that she lives in Africa, she is still very much an explorer, and is interested in adventure, and animals. She is a wild life artist, and she is right now on a riding expedition across Africa. But her father and mother told us a lot about the filming of the first S&A film, and he took a 16mm cine film of it all. This film is in their attic, and has not been looked at for ages. I hope we can persuade him to convert it to video. Has anyone been able to contact the other actors in this film?
