THIRTY THREE MILLION CHEERS - and just as many "thank you's" to all of
you who responded so magnificently to the desperately urgent appeal.
Today The Nancy Blackett Trust Ltd became the proud owners of "the best
little boat". We still cannot quite believe it, but it has happened
and her future is secured.
Nancy is presently undergoing her 1997 refit and is looking great for
her age - the yard which has been caring for her is working extremely
hard to have her ready and in the water for the Ipswich Sail on the 28/29
June. So please come along and visit her there as well as the Trust's
stand where we hope to have all sorts of "Nancyabilia"!!
The first target, that of raising the funds to buy her, has been met
but, with the Trust soon to be registered as a Charity, we shall be
setting ourselves lots more in order to keep her in the style that
distinguished old ladies deserve. The ongoing upkeep will require
a steady income some of which has already been promised in the form
of covenants - but more of that later.
For now it's many, many congratulations to Peter Willis for what is a
remarkable achievement and Nancy is ours - wouldn't AR have loved it!!
