It's always interesting when a new Ransome book is published, but quite unusual when it is a new translation. Most foreign editions are long out of print, but Czech editions are now into a 4th different publisher over many years. Touzimsky & Moravec are the first of the four to publish Missee Lee, which is the latest arrival and has therefore also made it to my website. It is translated by Zora Wolfova, with the usual Ransome illustrations. Cover illustration is by Jan Henke.
It’s also interesting, bearing in mind the recent Tarboard discussion about the “correct” order in which to read the twelve, that these publishers are working through the twelve in what seems to be a most unusual order:
Already published are:
Pigeon Post
Peter Duck
Coot Club
Missee Lee

while still to come are, in this order:
Winter Holiday
Swallows and Amazons
Swallowdale

Has anyone any comments about this order? It is almost the order in which I read them, substituting The Big Six for Coot Club
No news yet about the others!
