According to reference materials in our local library, "potting" is a
method of preserving hard-eggs by storing them in a crock, or pot, with
vinegar. In the States we would call them pickled eggs.
The only mention I can find on the Net is "pot eggs," which are imita-
tion eggs used by pigeon fanciers to induce the birds to set.
