Here in the UK we have a mid-day radio programme called You & Yours which deals with all sorts of consumer matters. Today it featured the modern fashion of celebrating peoples lives in an ever increasing party-like atmosphere rather than the down-beat style of most funerals. Apparently the makers of the equipment used for our final voyage have now got on to this and are marketing and advertising their wares accordingly. As I am one who prefers this lighter side of exiting I got to thinking what article from AR's stock would I like to go in, and I came to the conclusion that a replica Swallow, fully rigged, would be perfect. My only regret would be that Swallow would be consumed by the flames, but if a way could be found of tipping me out at the last minute she could be saved, and instead of the usual rose bush erected over the sight where my ashes are dumped Swallow could be up-ended, one of her thwartes re-positioned horizontally, to enable mourners to sit a while out of the wind and rain. What would be your choice for your send-off?
