I live next door to Vancouver and felt the earthquake.
I was sitting at my computer wondering why my wife was jumping up
and down upstairs so violently that the hanging lamp was swinging,
when, from the kitchen, she demanded to know why I was making all
that noise upstairs. The trembling lasted about six seconds and the
house creaked ominously. We went outside and heard the neighbourhood
dogs barking and a few neighbours uttering querelous complaints. The
first thought that came to mind was Titty's remark about the
earthquake *that made the washbasins rattle* in Peter Duck. Like the
Alice books, almost everything can be related to AR's works.
