It's an Armenian name, from her father's family. Her mother was a Collingwood, from the Lake District, which is where AR met her, well before Ernest Altounyan married her.
Taqui wrote a book of memoirs of her youth, "In Aleppo Once" which has been out of print for many years. It is being republished by Amazon Publications in a few months' time. Unfortunately for you, it is only for sale to TARS members, but we should be very happy if you'd liked to join.
