I notice from one of my rare opportunities to visit the Internet that there is
some correspondence on Force Wheatflakes, though no one seems sure whether the
product exists any more.
I can assure everyone it does, or did until recenty. We bought a pack last year,
I think in Safeways, and used it as a raffle prize at a Tars gathering. Printed
ragdolls of their mascot Sunny Jim regularly turn up at jumble sales, and are
still available. The rhyme reads "High o'er the fence leaps Sunny Jim. Force is
the food which raises him."
It tastes like cornflakes only marginally nicer, which is not saying much, in my
view. Not enough to overcome the marketing might of Kellogs evidently. Sadly
product placement in the Ransome books doesn't sem to have had the same results
for Force as it did for Oxford Marmalade (no longer made in Oxford, I was
shocked to discover)
Perhaps someone with access to the Internet would be kind enough to post this
there and e-mail me with any interesting responses (Text files only please)
