When I orginally read the books (aged about 9-12) it had to be John.
Partly I suppose for obvious name reasons, but I really did identify with him. He seemed so like me or maybe it was the me I wanted to be...
Re-reading them now with my daughter... and I still like John (she is a another Titty fan). John or Nancy (though she might be a bit overwhelming after a while).
Why? I don't know.... just a gut feeling really. Maybe elimination - Roger would be annoying (peggy ditto), Dick... never seems full filled out to me, Susan too "big sister-y", Titty and Dot... hmmmm not sure. Tom? Maybe Tom would be fun company.
But what about the adults? Wouldn't Mrs Walker be ANY child's ideal mother? And Capt. Flint.... whay a great guy to have around!
