I suspect that Nancy may not be everyone's favourite because of the amazing energy and strength of the character.
AR also expressed the reservation (SD Ch 25):
"The Amazons, Nancy in particular, always left them a little out of breath. When she was there, things seemed to move so fast. Now that she was gone, it was a few minutes before things settled. For these few minutes everything seemed in a whirl like the dust and bits of paper in a railway station when an express train has roared through."
I think that many, myself included, admire the energy, but find it too exhausting and unsettling for a favourite.
