Peter you are right to keep us on our toes ! It so happened that we
were in the Lakes and were able to go to the Service. There we found
a lady vicar, Doreen Harrison, steeped in Ransome since a child. She
therefore took a lot of trouble to design a really charming Sevicefor him
and enlisted the help of the local school children and others in Rusland
valley who read their favourite pieces from the books and the rest of the
congregation had to say where they all camefrom ! The children had also
made maps & signals and flags and a set of books to display and a
beautiful embroidered kneeler with appropriate emblems, initials and dates.
This was duely blessed and thenput into use in the church. The service
showed that our vicar was well up to date with her knowledge about AR.
When we arrived we found her replemishng a littlewild flower
arrangementat the grave which she keeps fresh on her visits to the church.
It is good to know that the final resting place that AR chose, is in good
hands. TARS was represented by a good collection of members from far
and wide and the sun shone.
