Just got 2 books from BOL;
Chris Bonnington's Lake District(1999) (about GBP 11) (mostly large photos -- has a small section on Charcoal Burners showing the 'kettle' type burners, and a lady Burner, and a reference to AR.
Also "Fell of Dark", a Lakeland Detective story ( I will post further when I get thru it..) It also has beautiful pictures of the river/lagoon at Little Langdale, where I recommend swimming .. there is a Sheep-s*** problem in getting there from the Parking lot of course, but the water seems clean, and the bottom is mud not horrible rocks..., also seems warmer then the Lake.
Of course the best place to swim is the Hotel/Timeshare club at Little Langdale, the pool at the Wordsworth in Grasmere .. etc (I'll bet you could get good rates if you call them right now !!!
