26th June 2001

I am not a Ransome scholar, and I wondered how widely discussed was the Ransome/Douglas/Roos connection by those who are. Those who know about this may be interested in a journal I have established, called THE OSCHOLARS, which I hope will develop into a journal of record and research for scholars working on Wilde, and his circle. It is free, monthly and by e-mail only.

Reaction is proving excellent in over a hundred English Departments so far, from Vancouver to Sydney via Boston and Bologna, Galway and Ghent.

I very much hope that some Ransome scholars will wish to receive (and perhaps contribute to) future issues. If so, perhaps they would kindly e-mail me to that effect (and all other comments and suggestions would of course be welcome) and I shall send the first issue (the second is out at the end of June). If I do not hear, I shall not disturb you again. Wanted e-mails can be troublesome enough: unwanted ones are the very deuce.

Contact address is oscholarship@ireland.com

Yours sincerely,

David Rose
