Mike,
I came across this interesting quote in Sailing just for Fun by A.C. Stoke (all about sailing a his 16 foot gaff centreboard cutter, Shoal Waters, in the Thames Estuary, published 1998:
"Many hundreds of acres have already gone back to the sea, Bridgemarsh Island in the Crouch, half of Northey Island in the Blackwater, Pewit Island and half of Skippers island in Walton Backwaters" etc
I read these books with East Coast River by Yachting Monthly 1957 by my side. I swapped it for a TARS burgee with AusTar, Colin Pratt. It was also most useful when reading Aubrey de Selincourt's Three Green Bottles which is set about Burnham and Paglesham Pool off the Roach.
Would half of Skippers island disappearing change AR's secret water map of Swallow Island?
