Hello everybody,
I am not (yet) a TARS member and so I am not too sure how you will
react to me posting to this group. I found this site the other
day and have had a fine time reading through the messages.

I am currently re-reading (again) the series in preperation for a sailing
/ walking holiday in the lakes with my children.

I have my own theories on 'what happened to them' which I would like to share

1. Dot & Tom - I started 'The Big Six' last night having read your post
an I tend to agree that this pairing is likley.

2. John & Nancy while I think they would have stayed friend I am not sure
whether John would be more suited to Peggy. But I do think it likley
that he would have married one of the Blackets. Here the story becomes a bit
dark as it is pretty certain John would have been in the navy in the last
war. Would Nancy/Peggy have ended up widowed and living in Beckfoot as
thier mother did?

3. Dick is sure to have ended up as a boffin and of all the children I agree
that Titty would be the one most suited to him (I can just see her adding
romance and adventure to dry scientific discovery!)

4. Roger - My boss and I were discussing him today and thought that as
he was so in to technology it is pretty likley he would have ended up flying
planes in WW2 - perhaps on a carrier? If not it would have been the Navy as
for John.

5. Susan - now she is the tricky one I can't see any of the children that
she would be suited to (except perhaps Tom, and the walkers did move to
East Anglia didn't they, watch out Dot....)If you concentrate on her native characteristics
you could argue that she would just become a house wife - maybe married
to a naval officer like her mother. But I think there is much more to
her than that. She would have made an excelent WREN or spy in the war(resourcful
and sensible but ready for adventure with a strong sence of responsibility)

Just my contribution what does any body think? BTW now I no of the existence
of TARS I will be joining straight away!

Phil
