For what it is worth, this overseas member doesn't feel isolated because I make efforts to attend UK events if I can and because I have organized and particpated in our own TARSCanada events here in Ontario. We have just had the 5th annual Ontario Corroboree, reported on here on TarBoard. Isolation can't be helped if you are the only TARS member for 1000 kilometres.
I use TarBoard as my virtual meeting place (pub/club/regional meeting) with other TARS and I do find it annoying to be told that no one is listening to TarBoard or the Club Hut or that my time could be better spent away from my keyboard. For me TARS and other TARS members are mostly accessed through my keyboard. I would be glad if Toronto boasted a major TARS contingent, I have tried to foster one but it doesn't exist now and is unlikely to get much bigger.

And Captain Flint took me for a ride on his boat at the Windermere AGM. We only fired two cannon shots and no one made me (or him) walk the plank. whether that qualifies him for TARS Trustee Chairman I don't know.
