I do not think that we should fiddle about with names. If we did, imagine all the literary Franceses who could no longer be Fannies (eg in Nancy Mitford's Love in a Cold CLimate).
My experience in recent years is that children (I am talking here of two Australian boys - a definitive test!!!) accept the name without demur. Any questions can be dealt with in the way Adam suggests.
