I well remember the anticipation of the BBC 1963 series (I was 10) and my total lack of understanding (an annoyance) as to why Titty was changed to Kitty. My parents gave some spurious explanation which totally avoided the actual reason. I would agree with others, just give him the book and ignore any sniggers - if he likes the book there is no problem.
