At last!

If all goes according to plan most of the footpaths around Coniston Water will be open on Wednesday 1 August. One exception is the Blawith Fells - so this means you cannot walk up to trout Tarn (sorry Swallowdale enthusiasts).

Political Statement
We, in the lake District tourist industry, are really supportive of our local farmers. Some just south of Coniston Water had their stock slaughtered in April and it was devastating for them, but what a scandle the handling of this outbreak has been. Words cannot express my disgust for MAFF/DEFRA and their downright immoral policy. All the esponsible organisations in the lake District have lobbied in vain for vaccination - but the FAT CATS of the NFU have been looking after their own interests in the dairy sector and have failed to look after the small fell farmers.
End of Political Statement

Anyway vistors to the lake district will, in a couple of days time, be able to enjoy most of the low level fells and paths - and not just the 'politically expedient' opening of some of the high Fells.

Commercial for Coniston Launch!
Oh yes, and our S & A cruises are running as usual - every Tuesday at 2.30, and Thursdays during August at 4.30.
End of Commercial
