In Cyril Ransome's Autobiography he says: "I had also rowed in the college eight in 1871 and did so every year until 1875. This took up a great deal of time".
By the way, Cyril was Professor of History and Modern Literature. (I'm going to make a recording of that to quote whenever Cyril is mentioned!)
