Can anyone think of any reason why this mis-spelling occurs so often? Other Ransome characters never seem to be mis-spelt. You are in good (?) company, John, as such luminaries as Christina Hardyment and Roger Wardale, no less, have perpetrated 'Owdens' in their books. It is all very odd.
