Hi all,

Well, I spent a delightful few days in Bank G.F. (my first ever visit!) and hired a Wayfarer on Coniston last week. This was somewhat marred by the fact that the mainsheet was too short (aargh!). We were out in a steady force 4 wind, and the only way to jill the sail was to completely let go the mainsheet so it was held by the knot in the block itself... The other interesting thing was that the tiller extension was too long so that it would actually jam the rudder if it was in its non-extended position.

Anyway, in the afternoon, the wind died down a bit, so we managed to avoid doing a Donald C. impression after all! But I thought that at £65 a day, the hire company really ought to pay more attention to the quality of rigging on its dinghies. Has anybody else had a similar problem?

Dan
