If yesterday's events were anything to go by, then the TARS who have just attended the Literary Weekend in Durham had a real treat: well organised, highly entertaining, educational, thought-provoking and fun. A particular high-light for me, as a one-day attendee, was the post-Dinner Edwardian Entertainiment - a "playlet" narrated by Gabriel Wolf (as young Arthur) and starring an assorted group of artist, writers and poets who to the last man and woman were very professionally played by Robert Thompson (actor and singer), Flo Galbraith (Stately Scottish Lady), Alan Hakim (Japanese gentleman)and Jane Grell (a marvellous specialist in the Anansi stories). There were opportunities to visit historic Durham, or just to relax, and excellent presentations by a range of very talented and informative speakers. Even the "opal hush", described in Bohemia in London, was worth sampling (no after effects .... yet!)

The organising committee, lead by Robin Anderson, deserve a tremendous round of applause: Ann Farr, Kirsty Nichol Findlay, Alan Hakim, Geraint and Helen Lewis, Kirstie Taylor and Joy Wotton.
