I was lecturing this morning (among other aspects of the geography of language) about the problems of using a PC in Japanese (and in other non-alphabetic languages). After class a student asked me if I knew of a program that would convert to and from Japanese characters and the Roman alphabet. I told him that I was sure some of the AR enthusiasts on TarBoard could help. Can any of you? My email is supplied, to avoid cluttering this site.

While I am at it, I might mention that another wonderful "layered" collection is the Asterix series. The kids love the action -- especially Romans getting bashed. Those of us who were forced through a classical education can enjoy the Latin puns.
