Pauline Marshall told me that when, some years ago, she was exploring the old mines on Wetherlam she ascended a chimney and came out into what she said was Swallowdale exactly how AR described it. How long ago this was and how safe was Pauline's memory I wouldn't like to say but she wasn't prepared to identify the site!
