I don't think Rattletrap would have been very old in actual years. I have the second issue of the NADA used car price book put out in 1933 or so - a 1929 Ford Model A was worth maybe $50 and it sold for around $500 new in 1929. Also, I have a copy of an Indianapolis news paper from January 1, 1925 in which the classifieds list three and four year old Model T Fords for $10 to $30. So, I don't think British cars would have retained their value any better at that time. I have always pictured Rattletrap as being about a mid '20s Austin. Also I think that Molly Blackett was well off enough that she wouldn't have to settle for a real junker, but something that still ran and looked fairly decent. The GA would NOT have ridden in junker - she sounds too much like my father! The "Rattletrap" moniker was obviously applied by Nancy and Peggy. EA
