The point is that we all are having a great time delving into our supositional imaginings of the private lives and reasonings of Mr. Ransome's characters AND Mr. Ransome based upon the information he has given us in his books, our knowledge of the area and the culture of the period. It may not be accurate or even close to being correct given that we are merely guessing at a lot of these items that are not explained explicitly in Mr. Ransome's writings; but that is partly what I preceive as being one of the primary reasons for this forum to exist. I know that I am having great enjoyment from all this! When I first read the Books in the late '40s, I pictured in my imagination and was curious about many of the "behind the scenes" items which have been discussed here. It served as a springboard to reading and understanding more about British as well as other cultures of the '20s and '30s. The "point" is to EXPLORE, DISCOVER and SHARE ideas and insights.
