On that 1%, the reason I asserted, above, that Stephen Mcrobert's question was pointless was that we cannot ever be sure what AR's views on current politics would be. One cannot safely attempt a 'projection' based on his views on the politics of his time, because most people's political views are modified as they go through life, and in many cases alter totally. I doubt if AR's views were the same in the 1960s as they were in the 1920s. So what he would have thought today is a total unknown. There is no way round this, unless you believe in spiritualist mediums (no latin plurals here either).
Peter Roche's point is an entirely separate one, and I very much disagree with it. Even as a child, I remember trying to imagine what Susan ,John and Nancy would be like as grown-ups. I am still trying to imagine!
