Well I thought Rattletrap could be an old (ie pre-WWI) Renault, looking at the rounded bonnet/hood in the picture in PM. An Austin Seven had two not four doors and seems too small, although an Austin Big Seven my parents had was a four-door sedan/saloon.

Was the Ford Model T also made (or assembled) in England? I thought that until the Prefect of the 1930s, Ford assembled or manufactured American models eg the Model A, so they would be fairly common in England. And the Model T?

As a student, I had my grandfather’s Prefect from Dagenham, the old tall sort. Now our Ford Laser is a rebadged Mazda from Japan (though New Zealand also gets the Ford Falcon from Oz).
