snow began to fall.", but Robert Thompson beat me to it. I doubt if
there's a more evocative line in all English literature, with the
possible exception of a line or two in Joseph Conrad's Youth.
A great line is something you can meditate on and find added beauty.
Oh yes, the last line of Great Expectations. Dickens has excelled
himself there - probably the most beautiful line he ever wrote. Sorry,
must stick to AR.
