I also belive that they did some filming on Windermere, as they come across "natives" both on shore ( at Bowness ) and encounter one of the Steamers, I think "Teal" which is in service on Windemere water, obviously it would be easier to move Swallow to Windermere than a rather large steamer to Coniston !
It's good to see that the film followed the book, in as much as it tied different parts of the lakes together ( almost seamlessly ) to provide a "fictitious" location, as AR did.
