Christmas can sometimes be boring, so how about a Swallows and Amazons Quiz,- some easy questions, some cryptic ones. If you are interested, E-mail me with the answers by 9am Boxing Day. The prize,- the satisfaction of knowing you are a S and A expert. I will post my answers on Boxing Day evening, but of course, you might disagree with some of them. This would mean an interesting debate in the New Year!
1. What looked like a milk can, but wasn’t.
2. Titty said:”I saw Mrs Jackson do it.”- what?
3. What is the connection between a damp sheep and an Atlantic liner?
4. If one of you starts from the middle, and one of you starts from the head, what are you doing?
5. What is the connection between sharks and white ants?
6. An article of clothing linked to a South American animal.
7. Susan didn’t often cry, but when were “tears streaming down her face”?
8. What would tea leaves have been useful for?
9. Squeakers are young untrained what?
10. How were Dixon’s sheep marked?
11. What dissolves in Aqua Regia? (be careful!)
12. John asked the time, Susan said: Horribly late. Where and when?
13. A Pantomime and an local boy;- the name of the Pantomime, the name of the boy, and the victim.
14. Titty’s “doll”.
15. Dick was not really like Roger, but once, he said something, ”almost as if he were Roger.” What and when?
16. Who said: ”Well, I am jiggered”?
17. What is the connection between a ship’s scuppers running with blood, and blinds down in the windows of a house?
18. In Winter Holiday, who, of the Swallows and Amazons, (not D’s), was the first one to speak; what did he/she say?
19. Titty once stepped on a part of Roger’s anatomy,- what part?
20. And finally: Who said: Marfehtnignipeelssiohw, and when?
