Further to this question, I have been wondering when it is set, in the context of the other stories. It seems to me to be quite likely that it occurs in the same holiday as PM because at the end of PM there is rejoicing at the departure of the GA combined with the Swallows coming in the next week. In one of the letters from the D's mother there is mention of the parents hoping to be taught to sail, so maybe Mr and Mrs Callum are on the scene too.
