We have Pru suggesting that a - possibly automatic, unintellectualised - following of social etiquette prompted Nancy to write only Roger's name on the tag; and we have others suggesting that that labels AR somehow as 'chauvinist'! Pru's interpretation of one small part of one book is as valid as anyone else's because we were quite simply not told why the pigeon basket was addressed to Roger and not Titty! Perhaps you can post of list of 'correct' readings of the texts so that we can all be validated as 'real' Ransome fans.
