Please forgive my ignorance, but I have always wondered about the mining in Pigeon Post. Was Dick right? If it had been gold, would it have turned into an ingot, when they used the blast furnace?
And why did the metal, actually copper, simply turn into ash. Could they not have made a copper ingot?
Science was never my favourite at school; in fact, I gave it up when i was 14, and studied Russian instead!
