The Walkers do not wear school clothes on holiday - in PP Susan rushes Titty & Roger upstairs “to get into camping clothes”.

They wear rubber sandshoes - as John says somewhere (?): “in case they can go on a boat”. So do the As & Ds; ref the post-burglary scene in PM where Sammy finds Dot’s sandshoe footprint under the tree, which is the same size and pattern as Peggy’s sandshoe.

PS: my day school uniform (Wellington College, Wellington New Zealand, 1950s) included a cap and flannel shorts, but no tie or blazer (they were just for sports day, with grey slacks).

PS: at the end of SA Peggy says “we’re going to school at the end of summer” which does not definitely say boarding school, but suggests it to me.
