I'm sure that many others, are, like me, looking forward to seeing Phil's article. If the Guardian won't take it, could it not find a home in Mixed Moss? Meanwhile, Tarboarders interested in this period of AR's life may like to read an article 'Ransome Demands' by Tim Radford, which appeared in the Guardian on 9th September 1976 on the occasion of the publication of AR's Autobiography. Based on documents in the Public Record Office, it brings out the ambivalence of the Foreign Office's attitude towards Ransome, as a source of potentially useful information on the one hand, and as a dangerous friend of Bolshevism on the other.

(In case you're wondering, the Radford article is part of a collection of reviews of the Autobiography that I've put together for the Literary Pages. The reviews, by such distinguished contributors as Wliiam Golding and Margaret Drabble, contain some of the most perceptive writing on AR that I know. Their appearance on the Web has been delayed by copyright difficulties: some publications, such as the Guardian, have been very helpful, while others, such as the Times, have been much less so.)
