As a professional "Squashy Hat" [i.e. geologist], I was a paid bushwalker and camper. Some of the best camping was done in our arid interior, when rain was guaranteed to not happen. Thus I could snuggle down into a soft sandy river bed, without tent and without even morning dew! Even in the more lush coastal parts, I have camped beside riversand other places of striking beauty. I have also towed a tandem axle caravan [a.k.a. trailer] over most of the Eastern seaboard of Australia when I had my wife and kids with me. Nowadays it's just me, and I do my "camping" on my 36ft Ketch. Very comfortable.
