Would anyone have any idea what language Missee Lee spoke? Judging
from the pidgin English AR shows her speaking it wasn't Mandarin or
Cantonese, so maybe it was a regional dialect of South China. Since
she was educated, she must have spoken or at least understand one or
both of the chief languages of China. On the other hand, maybe AR
wasn't familiar with Cantonese or Mandarin speakers, so was just
using a convention of the time when writers wanted to show a Chinese
speaking English.
