Dan Lind's message about Nacny's crossbow put me in mind of Greece,
including the islands of the Aegean, our family holiday destination
next month. Why? Because this is the land where history and myth
mingle. Perhaps there really was a crossbow. Perhaps it
really did wash up on the beach at Bellingham. Who knows? Perhaps there
really was a monster lurking in the halls of the palace at Knossos.
Maybe spring really does return as Persephone makes her way up to the
surface of the earth from the Underworld. Maybe the Swallows and the
Amazons really did meet on Peel Island all those years ago. Where does
fiction give way to fact? AR's books have that effect on people: what is
real and what is pure fabrication?
