I agree in part with Kathryn Lawrence, the characters in the books were extreemly real to me when I was small (and I supose now). As a child I was always frustrated about the gaps between the books, wanting to know all that had happened, for example in the summer after Picts & Martyrs. I mean by this that the storys were so compeling that I knew that it had carried on even though I was not there to "watch".
As I have got older (while I still long for the missing holidays to be revealed to me) I aslo have started to wonder what happend to them when they grew up. My personal experience is that though much childish wonder is lost as one ages, the greater resources one has enables one to develop the enjoyment of adventure much further than as a child. As I assume that the S's A's & D's continued to socialise throughout their lives the question of potential romance is bound to creep into any speculation of their future.

Ther is no attempt here to romanticise the relationships within the books but to speculate on future events. The fact that we do this is a tribute to ARs work - in making it all so believable.

Swallows & Amazons for EVER.

Phil
