Now if S&A where set in the Gippsland Lakes here in the antipodes, or even Sydney Harbour the year anomaly would not exist as the summer holidays would be in both 1929 and 1930.
Could Mrs Walker have influenced AR somewhat talking about her summer holidays and got him a bit mixed up? Perhaps AR was initially going to set S&A in Australia but didn't quite get all the Australian references out of the manuscript.
