Sorry, Dan, still not with you. If the sale of TARS ties, and maybe hats, promotes the name of Arthur Ransome and the Arthur Ransome Society, isn't that a good thing? Is your objection one of principle (which seems to me a bit purist), or that you think sales of TARS ties and hats would be a commercial failure? (in which case, as regards hats you're probably right - £30 for a squashy hat does not seem that much of a bargain)
